Intensive English Course London

Four and a half hours of teaching per day. Five mornings a week. A maximum of ten students. One teacher from the first day to the last. This is what an intensive English course looks like at ELIC — and it is a very different experience from studying English part-time over months. The ELIC intensive programme is designed for adults at B2+ and C1 level who want to develop their English substantially, in a short and focused period of time, in Central London.

The format

What makes this course intensive — and why it works

At ELIC, intensity means three things working together. First, teaching hours: 4.5 hours every morning, Monday to Friday — sessions run 9:00am to 2:00pm with two 15-minute breaks, giving sustained depth rather than fragmented sessions. Second, class size: no more than ten students, which means every learner speaks far more than they would in a larger group. Third, continuity: the same teacher throughout, so each day builds on the previous one without repetition or reset. Together, these three conditions produce a qualitatively different learning experience.

The week

What a typical week looks like

Each morning session covers speaking, listening, grammar and vocabulary — not in isolation, but through discussion, reading, debate and authentic language use. The pace is sustained throughout the week. By Friday, students consistently describe a different relationship to the language: not just more knowledge, but greater ease and confidence in using it. The afternoon is London: students continue using English in real contexts — museums, markets, conversations — reinforcing and deepening what the morning taught.

01

Morning sessions — 9:00am to 2:00pm (4.5 teaching hours)

Structured, fast-moving teaching. Speaking is central — there are no passive lessons. Grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation and listening are woven through every session rather than taught in sequence.

02

Afternoons in London

London is part of the programme. Students use English throughout the afternoon — in real contexts, with real people. This is what distinguishes ELIC from an intensive course held anywhere else.

Duration

How many weeks — and how to choose

ELIC intensive courses run for 1, 2, 3 or 4 consecutive weeks. Each week is complete in itself — students who stay longer build progressively on what they covered in previous weeks.

01

One week — 22.5 teaching hours

A single focused week for students with a specific goal and limited time. Best suited to professionals visiting London or learners targeting a specific gap in their English. Clear goals make the difference.

02

Two weeks — 45 teaching hours

Two weeks allow the first week to establish patterns and the second to develop and consolidate them. It offers a strong balance between intensity, progression and time in London.

03

Three or four weeks — 67.5 to 90 teaching hours

Longer courses produce the deepest results. At four weeks, students have time to embed new habits, develop sophisticated vocabulary, and leave with a qualitatively different command of the language.

Immersion

English immersion in London

ELIC's location is not incidental. London is one of the world's great English-speaking cities, and students use the language in real contexts throughout their stay. The teaching in the morning and the city in the afternoon reinforce each other. This is immersion in the truest sense: not a simulation, but the actual experience of living and communicating in English.
